Utility DER and Energy Conservation Initiative

As power lines and dated grid infrastructure become stressed, Simi receives a signal from the local utility provider requesting the smartbox to determine which distribution loads can be minimized or powered down. Additionally, and if requested, the utility provider may be able to compensate the participant by purchasing power from the building’s energy generation efforts.

The AI acts as a synchrophaser by measuring the flow of electricity through the macro and micro grids in real time, allowing users to actively manage and avoid disruptions by detecting inefficiencies before failures occur through electrical load predictions. Signatures across the network communicate with Simi which then modifies electricity use, relaxing the workload of the grid and acts as a capacitor.

Quality Power for Resistive Electric Loads

Simi controls loads consisting of any heating elements classified as resistive loads. These include incandescent lights, toasters, ovens, space heaters and coffee makers. Simmitri provides resistive loads such as light bulbs and large-scale heaters with the optimal operating voltage, and ensures a consistent supply of quality power - a big step in removing “spikes” or inefficiencies from these loads.

Renewable Energy Generation

In a grid feed system, electricity generated on site will supply the building and its appliances first, and only feed electricity into the grid if there is any surplus electricity. Likewise, if the system does not produce enough electricity to power all devices, any excess electricity will be drawn from the grid as needed. Additionally, SIM Tokens are distributed more abundantly for participants who generate their own energy.

Advanced Lighting Network

One of the most common issues with power conservation is leaving the lights on. Light bulbs and the sockets they reside in are typically at the mercy of the group circuit. Meaning, the light is either on or off. Simmitri introduces gradual or “dimming” as a feature in the entire network and is programmed as themes in the building.

Miscellaneous Electric Loads (MELs)

MELs are produced by hard-wired and “plug-in” electrical devices, including home entertainment centers, kitchen electronics such as microwaves, bath items such as hair dryers and electric hot tubs. MELs typically consist of a quarter of the building’s electrical network and Simmitri turns all plugged in devices into smart devices, similar to IoT, but not needed to be connected to the Internet.

These are found in a variety of household items and devices with moving parts, including fans, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines and the compressors in refrigerators and air conditioners. As power supply is managed to these loads, inductive loads play a significant part in conserving electrical energy and yields more SIM tokens than lesser loads that do not require as much power to operate.

Unique Electrical Signature Sockets

Each electrical socket that is in use sends a unique signature back through the circuit to the smartbox where Simi determines the characteristics of what may be a need, want or inefficient. As the signatures are analyzed, smart contract parameters are set up to determine if the data metrics from individual sockets and circuits are executable for distributing SIM tokens.

Internet of Things (IoT) Integration

Data is collected through smart home APIs where Simi cross-references the metrics with the holistic wellness of the building’s performance. HEMS devices tend to collect unique information pertinent to their mission, however, the platforms and Simmitri can be integrated together to compensate users simply from systems they already use.
